Amber Heard, the actress known for her role in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” has been living in Madrid, Spain, since the end of her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp in June 2022.
In a recent video posted on TikTok, Heard told reporters, “I love Spain so much,” and confirmed she plans to stay there. “Yes, I hope so. Yes, I love living here,” she said.
Heard previously told PEOPLE that she was looking forward to leaving the U.S. and starting fresh after the trial. A source told the publication, “The trial was beyond stressful for her and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country. She is excited about working and filming again. She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated. This is all behind her now, though.”
The source added that Heard is “focused on things that she loves,” including her two-year-old daughter Oonagh Paige.
In December 2022, Heard and Depp settled their appeals from the Virginia trial. Heard said in a statement, “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed.
The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways women are re-victimised when they come forward.” She added, “Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to.”
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp has also returned to the spotlight, starring in the French-language film “Jeanne Du Barry,” which opened the Cannes Film Festival this month. When asked about his “comeback” and whether he felt “boycotted by Hollywood,” Depp said, “Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. But I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about it. I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself.” He added that he’s been “sitting around” and hasn’t gone anywhere.
