Watch Pat Sajak Welcome Ryan Seacrest on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Set with Vanna White.
Pat Sajak has officially passed the torch to Ryan Seacrest as the new host of “Wheel of Fortune.”
In a promotional video set to be released to local stations, Sajak, 77, welcomes Seacrest, 49, to the “Wheel of Fortune” set. Sajak, who retired on Friday after 41 seasons, introduced Seacrest, who will start hosting in September. Vanna White, the co-host, is seen smiling next to Seacrest in the video.
“Well, this is it, Ryan. What do you think?” Sajak asks, showing off the famous set.
“Impressive!” Seacrest replies.
White adds, “Ryan, I think the contestants are going to love you.”
Sajak praises the show as a daily escape for its fans. “People love this show. You’re never going to find a better job,” he says, nodding towards White. “And you’re never going to find a better co-host.”
In his final episode on Friday, Sajak’s 8,010th show, he thanked viewers for their support. “It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade,” he said.
Vanna White gave a heartfelt farewell to Sajak in a video on June 6. “I love you, Pat … I don’t know how to put into words what these last 41 years have meant to me. But I’m going to try. Eight thousand episodes went by like that,” she said tearfully.
On June 9, Seacrest praised Sajak in an Instagram post. “Pat, congratulations on an incredible run with ‘Wheel of Fortune,'” Seacrest wrote. “Your dedication, charm, and wit have made the show a beloved part of American television for decades.”
Seacrest also acknowledged the iconic partnership between Sajak and White, saying, “Together, you’ve created countless wonderful memories for viewers. You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era.”
