The first trailer for Georgina Campbell’s latest horror film, “The Watched,” has been released, offering a chilling glimpse into the upcoming movie.
Scheduled for theatrical release on June 7, “The Watched” (known as “The Watchers” in the US) stars Dakota Fanning from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” alongside Campbell, known for her role in “Barbarian.”
Adapted from AM Shine’s novel, “The Watched” is both written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, with production duties handled by her father, M Night Shyamalan. The film’s official synopsis describes it as following Mina (played by Fanning), a 28-year-old artist stranded in an untouched forest in western Ireland. Sheltering with three strangers, they find themselves preyed upon by mysterious creatures each night.
The cast also includes Oliver Finnegan from “Outlander” and Olwen Fouéré from “The Tourist.”
Production is overseen by Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad, with Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer as executive producers.
The trailer showcases Mina entering a room with a one-way mirror, questioning her companions (including Campbell and Fouéré) about their presence.
“We’re just like you. Lost,” one of them responds.
Campbell’s character elaborates on the nightly ordeal: “They come every night. They watch us until the sun rises again. It’s a window on the other side. They’ll be very interested in someone new.”
The trailer culminates with Fanning hearing mysterious applause from the creatures outside, with a chilling tagline: “You can’t see them, but they see everything.”
