Country singer Josh Turner has announced his 10th album, “This Country Music Thing,” along with the new single “Down in Georgia.”
Josh Turner has revealed details about his upcoming album, This Country Music Thing. The country artist’s 10th studio album is produced by his longtime collaborator Kenny Greenberg. The album, which includes several songs written or co-written by Turner, will be released on August 16 via MCA Nashville. It is available for pre-order now, with exclusive merchandise. A vinyl version will be available starting September 13.
Alongside the album announcement, Turner has released a new single titled “Down in Georgia.” The song, written by Tyler Booth, Anthony Olympia, and Brent Rupard, is a feel-good Southern anthem reflecting Turner’s current state of mind. “I think they’ve been reading my mail because I married a girl from Georgia and we actually moved to Georgia last year,” the South Carolina native said. “Down in Georgia” follows his April single, “Heatin’ Things Up.”
After releasing his first Greatest Hits album in fall 2023, Turner will embark on The Greatest Hits Tour throughout 2024, performing across the country.
Last year, Turner celebrated the 20th anniversary of his 2003 debut album, Long Black Train, with a vinyl release and a celebratory tour. Long Black Train was certified Platinum by the RIAA, with nearly 1.5 million album sales, 1.4 million track downloads, and over 294.3 million streams. The title track of the album was also certified Platinum, with over 1.1 million track downloads and more than 242.2 million streams globally.
Turner’s second album, the Grammy-nominated Your Man from 2006, also recently celebrated an anniversary. In June 2021, Turner released a deluxe edition of Your Man, along with a mini-documentary titled Josh Turner Your Man 15th Anniversary. The title track from this album is one of Turner’s five No. 1 singles, and its official music video has surpassed 208 million views. Another hit from the album, the Grammy-nominated, triple-Platinum certified “Would You Go With Me,” experienced a viral resurgence on TikTok. This resurgence led to increased streaming, bringing the song to Spotify’s US Viral 50 chart.
