Women in Film has selected its class of 2024 for the WIF Fellowship Program, after receiving nearly 900 applications. This year, the program brings together 60 members including directors, writers, cinematographers, producers, line producers, executives, representatives, artisans, and below-the-line crewmembers. Launched last year to commemorate WIF’s 50th anniversary, the program is open to women, nonbinary, and trans individuals.
The fellowship program offers a year-long journey of mentoring, guest speakers, master classes, networking opportunities, and personalized support. Additionally, participants of the WIF x Black List Episodic Lab, supported by the Golden Globes Foundation and ShivHans Pictures, are included in this year’s roster. Aimed at mid-career professionals, the program ensures each fellow benefits from at least six mentoring sessions with their cohort and a dedicated mentor team spanning various business and craft sectors within the industry.
Among the mentors for 2024 are top executives from prominent organizations such as Netflix, A+E, LuckyChap, MTV, Echo Lake, Davis Entertainment, Color Force, Fifth Season, and Tomorrow Studios. Melissa Verdugo, senior manager of career programs, will also engage with the fellows throughout the program.
Maikiko James, senior director of programs at WIF, emphasizes the importance of sustaining careers in Hollywood and achieving gender parity. She states, “In order to achieve gender parity in Hollywood, it’s essential to support those who are already part of the industry. We are proud to welcome this dynamic 2024 fellowship cohort and to provide long-term strategic career support, ensuring their continued success in this business.”
