The Taichung Film and Television Development Foundation announced the launch of the Golden Horse Classic Film Festival, highlighting 35 iconic films starring 12 Hollywood Golden Age actresses. This year’s festival showcases 11 films in 4K digital restoration, including Gloria Swanson’s acclaimed “Sunset Boulevard,” Ingrid Bergman’s collaboration with Hitchcock in “Notorious,” and Katharine Hepburn’s classics “The Philadelphia Story” and “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”
Audrey Hepburn fans can enjoy “Roman Holiday,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and “My Fair Lady,” while Vivien Leigh’s “Gone with the Wind,” Elizabeth Taylor’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and “Suddenly, Last Summer,” and Marilyn Monroe’s “Some Like It Hot” also grace the lineup. Through advanced digital restoration, viewers can experience the luminosity and detail of these screen legends like never before.
In addition to screenings, Golden Horse Award winner Chen Xiangqi will deliver a special lecture, enriching the festival experience. Exclusive activities tailored for Taichung audiences include a film selection guide hosted by Executive Director Wen Tianxiang on July 6, along with four post-screening discussions revealing film secrets.
For young cinephiles, the “New Generation of Movie Fans” event offers free courses from July 31 to August 2, featuring introductions, screenings, and discussions aimed at fostering appreciation for classic cinema. Registration opens on July 8 for ages 12-18 via the Golden Horse official website.
To reward attendees, the festival introduces a gift redemption promotion: patrons can collect themed star stickers with each ticket purchase. Accumulating all 12 stickers earns a limited edition “2024 Golden Horse Classic HYDY Commemorative Ceramic Mug (300ml),” available while supplies last.
The single-ticket pre-sale for the “2024 Golden Horse Classic Film Festival: The Birth of a Superstar” began on June 28, with screenings in Taichung scheduled from July 31 to August 11. For further details
