Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova reunited publicly for the first time since their reported breakup but maintained their distance during a Strictly Come Dancing rehearsal.
The reunion was captured in a photo shared on Bychkova’s Instagram account.
In the picture, Bychkova, 34, and Widdrington, 28, posed with the show’s dancers but were positioned at opposite ends. Widdrington, smiling, stood between Nikita Kuzmin and Michelle Tsiakkas, while Bychkova posed in front of Vito Coppola and Carlos Gu.
Bychkova captioned the photo: “The best things in life are about family and it’s great to be back with the @bbcstrictly team. The new series is going to be amazing. I can’t wait for you to see it,” followed by the hashtag “We Go Again.”
This reunion comes days after the couple, who started dating in 2022, confirmed their breakup. An insider told The Sun: “It’s heartbreaking. Kai and Nadiya seemed like the most perfect couple and were blissfully in love. But the pressures of touring and the stress of performing a sell-out show took its toll.”
After a tough few weeks, they decided to part ways but remain close. The insider added, “They are determined their split will not affect the next series of Strictly. They are consummate professionals.”
Strictly Come Dancing is currently facing controversy following allegations against several professional dancers and concerns about contestant treatment. Complaints have been made by Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott. Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were removed from the show after accusations of “abusive” behavior towards their celebrity partners during training last year. Di Prima has admitted to some allegations, while Pernice has denied any wrongdoing and vowed to return.
