Taylor Swift is known for keeping her fans on their toes.
As the 2024 Olympics kicked off in Paris on Friday, Swift’s social media channels shared an Olympics advertisement featuring a song from her album “Reputation.”
Fans, who have been eagerly awaiting “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” believe the ad is a major hint. Swift has been re-releasing new versions of her old albums under her ownership, breaking records in the music industry.
Swifties were thrilled when they saw the ad and heard the beat and iconic lines, “Are you ready for it? Baby, let the games begin, let the games begin, let the games begin!”
These lyrics are from the song “…Ready For It?” which is the first track on the 2017 version of her album “Reputation.”
The Olympics ad, shared on both NBC Olympics and Swift’s social media, features inspiring interviews with Team USA athletes. “So ready to scream at my TV cheering for these athletes,” Swift wrote in an Instagram story featuring the ad.
“The way I thought this was a Rep TV announcement,” one fan commented on Taylor Nation’s Instagram, her promotional account. “Well, this doesn’t help our clowning now, does it,” another added. Swift has a history of exciting her fans with hints about her re-recorded albums, which include previously unreleased bonus tracks.
After releasing four of six re-recorded albums, fans speculated that Swift would announce “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” at the 2024 Grammys in February, where she appeared in black and white—the color scheme associated with the album. Instead, she announced a new double album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
This Olympics ad is the second time Swift’s song “…Ready For It?” has been linked to the Olympics. Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, uses a portion of the song in her floor routine. When NBC Olympics posted a video of Biles’ routine in June, Swift commented that she “watched this so many times and still unready. She’s ready for it tho,” referring to Biles.
