Netflix has confirmed that Outer Banks will return for a fifth and final season. The announcement arrives just ahead of the premiere of Part 2 of Season 4, set for November 7.
The show’s creators and executive producers—Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke—shared the news in a statement titled “Dispatch to all Pogues,” expressing both excitement and a sense of closure as they prepare for the series’ conclusion.
The trio reflected on the origins of the show, revealing that Outer Banks was inspired by a photograph they discovered in 2017, depicting a group of teenagers at sunset on a beach. At the time, they said it seemed unlikely they would ever be able to tell the story they envisioned across five seasons. However, as they approach the end of Season 4, they expressed pride in the journey.
“The fourth season was our longest and hardest—but also the most rewarding to produce,” the creators wrote. “It ends with a feature-length episode, which we believe is our best and most powerful yet. We hope you agree.”
Looking ahead to the final season, they shared a bittersweet message: “With a little sadness but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us and focusing on Season Five. We plan to bring our beloved Pogues home the way we always imagined. We think it’ll be our best season yet, and we hope you’ll join us for one last adventure.”
The core cast of Outer Banks for Season 4 includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane, Pollyanna McIntosh, Brianna Brown, Rigo Sanchez, Mia Challism, and Cullen Moss.
Outer Banks has become a major success for Netflix. Part one of Season 4 has maintained a spot in the Netflix English-language TV Top 10 for the past three weeks, bringing the series’ total time spent in the Top 10 to 27 weeks since its debut in 2020.
In addition to the show’s success, Netflix has expanded the Outer Banks universe with live events. Recently, the streaming giant hosted the second “Poguelandia” event in Los Angeles, which attracted 2,500 fans. The event featured performances by artists like GloRilla and Remi Wolf, as well as merchandise, photo ops, and more. Netflix has also launched a mobile game, Netflix Stories: Outer Banks, further building the show’s fan engagement.
