The Bésame Mucho Festival, a highly anticipated Latin music event set to take place at Dodger Stadium on December 21, has been canceled, promoters confirmed on Monday. The festival, which was to feature performances by major artists such as Shakira, Pitbull, and Los Tigres del Norte, will not be going forward.
In an official post on the festival’s Instagram page, organizers stated that the cancellation was due to “circumstances beyond our control.” They expressed their disappointment, saying, “After working tirelessly all year to bring you another unforgettable show in December, we are deeply disappointed to share this news.”
According to Rolling Stone, the festival’s cancellation came after Shakira’s decision to delay her arena tour in favor of a stadium tour next year. The Bésame Mucho Festival was meant to be part of Shakira’s rescheduled 2024 U.S. tour, which was initially set to begin in November. Recently, Live Nation announced that the tour would now take place in stadiums starting in 2025, citing high fan demand and changes to the production schedule.
The event, which would have been the third edition of the Bésame Mucho Festival, had also booked other big names, including Juanes, Gloria Trevi, Elvis Crespo, Paulina Rubio, and Los Tucanes de Tijuana. The festival, which first launched over two years ago, had expanded to Austin, Texas, earlier this year. It is set to return to Austin next April at the Circuit of the Americas racetrack, with a star-studded lineup featuring Peso Pluma, Carin León, Los Tigres del Norte, Tito Doble P, Pepe Aguilar, Banda MS, and more.
Organizers assured fans that they would receive refunds for their Los Angeles tickets in “as little as 30 days.”
