Sylvester Stallone is no stranger to the highs and lows of Hollywood, but his latest action movie, Alarum, has hit a significant low with a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Just a month after his heist film Armor received the same dismal rating, Alarum has faced a barrage of negative reviews, earning a perfect zero on the review aggregator.
The movie, which co-stars Scott Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald, presents a unique premise. It follows a group of rogue spies who seek a life of luxury in a secluded winter resort. However, their enemies track them down, forcing them to fight for survival, with Stallone’s character, Agent Chester, serving as one of the few allies. Despite the movie’s promising action-packed setup and the star power of Stallone and Eastwood, Alarum has failed to impress critics.
While the 0% Rotten Tomatoes score seems harsh, the reviews themselves are not universally negative. Some critics, like Keith Garlington, offered a lukewarm response, giving the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, while Ben Gibbons of Screenrant rated it 3 out of 10. These aren’t glowing reviews, but they are far from the complete dismissal suggested by the score.
The Rotten Tomatoes scoring system tends to simplify reviews into a binary system, where even mixed reviews count as negatives. This method may not accurately reflect the overall reception of Alarum, which, while not critically acclaimed, might not be a total failure.
Despite the poor reception, Alarum’s struggles are unlikely to harm Stallone’s career. The veteran actor is known for his resilience, consistently bouncing back from setbacks and finding success after setbacks.
