Cameron Diaz made a stunning return to the spotlight on Wednesday as she attended her first movie premiere in 11 years.
The actress, 52, joined her co-star Jamie Foxx in Berlin, Germany, to promote Back in Action, following the cancellation of the film’s U.S. premiere in New York due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
Diaz turned heads on the red carpet, wearing dark-washed wide-legged jeans paired with a sheer black top, which she layered under a long trench coat. She accessorized with Jennifer Fisher Puffy Dagger earrings and an Alexis Bittar clip earring. To add a vibrant touch, Diaz matched her bold red lip and bright nail polish with rosy pink blush. She styled her hair in a playful loose updo.
Foxx, 57, also kept his look sophisticated in a dark ensemble, wearing a black blazer with white and black stripes along the lining, paired with black slacks and dress shoes.
Back in Action marks Diaz’s first film since 2014’s Annie, where she starred alongside Foxx. The two previously shared the screen in Any Given Sunday in 1999. In Back in Action, directed by Seth Gordon, Diaz and Foxx play former CIA agents, Emily and Matt. The film follows the pair as they are pulled back into the world of espionage after their cover is blown, years after retiring to start a family.
The movie also features a strong supporting cast, including Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, McKenna Roberts, Rylan Jackson, and Jamie Demetriou.
Diaz’s return to acting was first announced in June 2022. Foxx later shared that he had persuaded her to come back by emphasizing the fun they would have together on set. “So it was literally, ‘Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!’ And I think that’s what brought her to it,” Foxx explained to Entertainment Tonight. “We miss special moments sometimes in our business, and I think this is a special moment. So we’re so happy that it’s happening and looking forward to it.”
Filming was temporarily interrupted in April 2023 due to a medical emergency involving Foxx. However, by January 2024, the actor and Diaz were seen finishing up scenes together.
