Faran Tahir is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Vision series, starring Paul Bettany. The actor will reprise his role as Raza, a character he first portrayed in Marvel Studios’ 2008 Iron Man. This marks a significant return for the character, who was last seen in the film nearly 20 years ago.
Bettany will return as Vision, the synthezoid originally introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). James Spader is also set to reprise his role as Ultron, the villainous AI from the same film. Actor Todd Stashwick, known for his role in Star Trek: Picard, is joining the cast as an undisclosed character.
Tahir’s return to the role of Raza is especially notable given the character’s death in Iron Man at the hands of Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges). Raza’s apparent demise occurred halfway through the movie after kidnapping Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), an event that ultimately sets Stark on his path to becoming Iron Man. However, as is often the case in the MCU, death is not necessarily permanent, with previous characters like Vision being brought back to life after their deaths in earlier films.
The Vision series, which will debut in 2026, is being led by Terry Matalas, executive producer and showrunner. Matalas is known for his work on Star Trek: Picard and 12 Monkeys. Tahir, who is also a Star Trek alumnus, appeared in the 2009 film Star Trek as Captain of the U.S.S. Kelvin. His additional credits include roles in Elysium, Escape Plan, The Old Man, 12 Monkeys, Scandal, and Once Upon a Time.
