A new game inspired by the 2011 sci-fi action film In Time, starring Justin Timberlake, will launch on Fortnite Thursday. This marks the first project in a deal between Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Games and New Regency to adapt the studio’s film library into Fortnite games.
The collaboration, led by Death Row Games’ Good Game Champ division, will use Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) to bring In Time to life on the gaming platform. According to the team, the game is a “natural fit” for UEFN, promising fans an exceptional “AAA gaming experience.”
Directed by Andrew Niccol, In Time starred Timberlake alongside Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, and Olivia Wilde. The movie, which explores a dystopian world where time is currency, has a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. New Regency describes the film as set in a society marked by stark inequalities, where survival depends on every second. Its narrative, filled with themes of resistance, offers rich potential for game adaptation.
Looking ahead, New Regency has several notable projects in the works, including Blitz, streaming on Apple TV+, Season 2 of Mr. & Mrs. Smith starring Donald Glover, Prime Target with Leo Woodall due on Apple TV+ in 2025, and the ongoing production of Man on Fire for Netflix.
Cordell Broadus, CEO of Death Row Games, expressed his excitement about the partnership, noting that New Regency has produced some of his favorite films. “Working with Yariv [Milchan] and his team has been seamless,” he said. “They understand that UEFN is central to the creator economy. This partnership allows us to bring authentic cultural representation into Fortnite and create a unique experience for players.”
Yariv Milchan, chairman and CEO of New Regency, also shared his enthusiasm, stating: “We’re excited to be part of this new era of gaming and storytelling with Death Row Games. The launch of In Time is just the beginning of an innovative journey. We have long admired Snoop’s work and respect what he and Cordell are building at Death Row. This collaboration aligns perfectly with New Regency’s ethos.”
