Once the embodiment of the “angry young man” image in Tamil cinema, actor Satya Raj is now turning his attention to more composed, substantive roles such as the iconic Baahubali series. Katapa. After a long absence, the 68-year-old actor is now ready to land another leading role in an action movie. Titled “Weapon,” the film is directed by Guhan Senniappan, known for his previous work “Sawaari” and Amazon Prime Video’s first Tamil web series “Vella Raja.” Vasanth Ravi and Rajiv Menon will also play key roles in the film.

Team Weapon recently announced that they used artificial intelligence (AI) to portray a younger version of Sathyaraj in the film.
“Mr. Sadiaraj played a character with superpowers. We had a part explaining how the character got superpowers. It was in this sequence that we used artificial intelligence to generate what the character would look like when he was younger. And how the events of the past happened,” director Guhan Senniapan told ETimes.
“Recently, we’ve seen a lot of AI-generated images on social media and they look amazing. AI can generate anything we want, but it’s still a matter of trial and error. Since we have footage of artists and locations , which is easier for us,” he added.
Producer MS Manzoor told ETimes they assembled a team of five specialists to take on the task, further expanding the program. “We use open source software with an AI plug-in to create 3D images. While films like Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 have used AI, we believe this is a first for an Indian film. an attempt of this kind,” he said.
“Arms” was photographed by Prabhu Raghav, edited by Nash, and composed by Gibran.
