Jisoo, BLACKPINK’s eldest member and visual, is reportedly planning a solo comeback in February, two years after the release of her debut solo album ME. This comes ahead of BLACKPINK’s much-anticipated reunion in May.
According to a recent report, Jisoo is preparing to release new solo music next month. However, her agency, BLISSO, responded cautiously when asked about the possibility. They stated, “It’s difficult to confirm” regarding Jisoo’s comeback plans.
If the report proves accurate, Jisoo would return to the spotlight with her solo project before BLACKPINK reassembles for their next group release. The four members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—are set to reunite in May for the first time since their Born Pink era in 2022.
Jisoo’s solo career began with her album ME, which featured the hit single “FLOWER.” The song was a massive success, surpassing 500 million streams on Spotify in just 585 days, making it the fastest song by a South Korean female solo artist to reach that milestone. Jisoo also claimed nine music show awards for the track. Additionally, ME became the fastest album by a K-pop female soloist to achieve 600 million streams on Spotify.
Jisoo’s return is eagerly awaited, as she was the only BLACKPINK member not to release a solo project in 2024. Jennie released her single “Mantra” in October, while Lisa dropped her track “Rockstar” in June. Both Jennie and Lisa are currently preparing for the release of their debut solo albums. Rosé also released her first full-length album, Rosie, in December 2024.
While preparing for her solo comeback, Jisoo has also been pursuing an acting career. She is currently filming two K-dramas: the romantic comedy thriller Boyfriend on Demand and the zombie thriller Newtopia.
