Meghan Markle has announced a delay in the launch of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, due to the ongoing wildfires in California.
The show, originally scheduled to debut on January 15, will now premiere on March 4. It features the Duchess of Sussex cooking for various friends, including actress Mindy Kaling and her former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
In a statement, Markle expressed her gratitude to Netflix for supporting the decision to postpone the show’s release. “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” she said.
The eight-part series, filmed in Markle’s current hometown of Santa Barbara, also includes appearances from celebrity chef Roy Choi, renowned restaurateur Alice Waters, and Markle’s husband, Prince Harry.
Directed by Michael Steed, the series focuses on Markle’s culinary skills and her connections with friends from various fields.
The wildfires, which began on Tuesday, have rapidly become one of California’s most devastating natural disasters. The fires have resulted in at least 16 confirmed deaths and the destruction of more than 10,000 structures, leaving thousands displaced. Firefighters continue to battle multiple blazes, with weather conditions making their efforts even more challenging.
On Friday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited the Pasadena Convention Center to meet with those affected by the fires, accompanied by California’s First Partner, Jennifer Newsom.
