Production in Los Angeles is slowly returning to normal after being halted last week due to devastating wildfires.
Several CBS shows, including NCIS, NCIS: Origins, Poppa’s House, and The Neighborhood, are scheduled to resume filming on Monday. Sources close to the situation confirm that all four productions will take place on closed soundstages, with health and safety experts overseeing the process. Any cast or crew unable to return to work due to the fires or safety concerns will continue to receive their regular pay.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live is also set to resume production this week after a temporary shutdown. However, CBS’s late-night show After Midnight will remain on pause for Monday and Tuesday.
It is still unclear when other shows affected by the fires last week will restart filming. Productions like NBCUniversal’s Hacks, Suits: LA, Ted, and Loot, as well as Amazon’s Fallout Season 2, were among those disrupted.
This marks another setback for physical production in Los Angeles, which has faced multiple challenges in recent years, including COVID-19 lockdowns, writers’ and actors’ strikes, and the downturn in the streaming industry.
The wildfires have caused widespread destruction in the area, fueled by dry conditions and powerful Santa Ana winds. Thousands of residents have been evacuated, and the Palisades fire has already scorched more than 23,000 acres. The Eaton fire has burned over 14,000 acres. Forecasters warn that strong winds will continue to affect Los Angeles and Ventura counties, complicating firefighting efforts and raising the risk of new fires.
