Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has promoted Mike Wald and Jason Spivak to co-presidents of distribution and networks, effective immediately.
The pair will take on the responsibilities previously held by Keith Le Goy, who was elevated to chairman of Sony Pictures Television in January. Wald and Spivak will report directly to Le Goy in their new roles.
In this dual leadership position, Wald and Spivak will jointly oversee Sony’s television and home entertainment distribution operations. Their duties will include managing the post-theatrical distribution of films, the global distribution of TV series, multi-channel marketing efforts, and international cable networks, particularly in Latin America and Europe. The company’s extensive library includes iconic TV series like Seinfeld, Outlander, Shark Tank, and The Nanny, as well as major film franchises such as Jumanji, Spider-Man, and Venom.
Wald, who was previously head of international distribution and content strategy, played a key role in managing global distribution for Sony’s TV series and films across all platforms. Spivak, promoted from his position as co-lead of Sony’s North American distribution group, oversaw post-theatrical distribution for both films and TV content in the region.
Keith Le Goy expressed confidence in his colleagues, saying, “I’ve worked closely with Mike and Jason for many years. Their extensive experience in local markets worldwide, coupled with their expertise in navigating the rapidly changing home entertainment sector, makes them ideally suited to lead our business during this transformative time. I am excited to see the impact they will make with our exceptional distribution and networks teams.”
In a joint statement, Wald and Spivak said, “Sony is well-positioned to thrive in this evolving distribution landscape. We’re excited to work alongside some of the most talented teams in the industry to steer the next phase of growth for the business.”
