Members of the Guide Dogs for the Blind/Ridgecrest CA Puppy Raisers had a special presence at the premier of the latest series of Classic Movie Night, titled “The Dog Days of Summer.” The event took place on August 2 at the Historic USO Building, featuring the screening of the doggie comedy-adventure film “Beethoven.”
Attendees, in addition to enjoying the movie, had the privilege of a “meet-and-greet” session with the endearing guide dog puppies. These pups are undergoing training to develop essential social skills for their future roles. A raffle added excitement to the evening, as a charming St. Bernard plush toy was accompanied by a vintage Radio Flyer wagon, puppy treats, and a signed copy of Tammy Pound’s captivating children’s book, “Sophie, the Super Host.” Sierra Swearingen, the fortunate raffle winner, expressed immense delight at receiving this bundle.
Continuing the theme of canine enjoyment, the “Fido” festivities are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, August 16, at 7 p.m. at the Historic USO Building. The movie slated for this session stars Tom Hanks in a heartwarming canine caper, portraying a police detective whose devoted canine partner aids in solving crimes.
Adding to the anticipation, one fortunate audience member will be awarded another collectible stuffed pup. The film title can be found on the Events Board located in front of the building. Hungry guests can indulge at the Thrifty Snack Bar, open from 6:30 p.m., before the film commences around 7:15 p.m.
True to tradition, the event maintains its donation-based admission policy, ensuring that attendees can participate and enjoy the cinematic experience.
