A surprise awaited viewers tuning into the August 11th edition of ITV’s This Morning, as an unexpected hosting duo graced the screen. In an unusual pairing, Josie Gibson and fan-favorite presenter Craig Doyle, who typically host together between Monday and Thursday, saw a last-minute change during the week’s final episode. This shift came about due to another presenter altering their holiday plans.
On August 10th, Craig Doyle announced his impending holiday break, bidding farewell to the show he has been a part of since 2021. “I’m a bit giddy, holidays are tomorrow. Gone,” he cheerfully expressed.
Josie’s usual co-host, Craig, going on vacation led to a new combination for Friday’s show. Following a performance by a Tina Turner tribute act, Josie and her stand-in co-host, Alison Hammond, opened the show. Expressing gratitude for Alison’s presence, Josie remarked, “Thank you so much for being here with me today because you’re meant to be on holiday.”
Alison responded with her own reason for stepping in, saying, “I only did it because of you and the viewers. I did it for you really.” Playfully, Josie inquired if Alison had postponed her holiday solely to co-host with her, to which Alison revealed, “I’m going tomorrow. I’ve changed my flights just for you, and I’m going to go tomorrow.”
Viewers embraced the chemistry between Josie and Alison, with comments flooding in on social media. One viewer shared, “This is the dream team,” while another echoed the sentiment, suggesting that either the Josie-Alison or Alison-Dermot pairing would be a delightful permanent addition, given their entertaining and drama-free dynamic.
Both Josie and Alison have been stepping in for the main This Morning host, Holly Willoughby, who is on her annual summer break. Holly is anticipated to return to the show in early September.
