Hulu’s upcoming series The Testaments, a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, has cast Lucy Halliday in the role of Daisy.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel, The Testaments follows three main characters: Aunt Lydia (played by The Handmaid’s Tale star Ann Dowd), Agnes (Chase Infiniti), and Daisy, a young Canadian teenager.
Daisy’s life is turned upside down when she uncovers her connection to the oppressive Republic of Gilead.
The series is set 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, which will conclude its sixth and final season on Hulu this April. The story alternates between the viewpoints of the three women. Atwood’s novel was released in 2019, 34 years after the debut of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Like the original series, The Testaments is created by Bruce Miller, who also serves as showrunner. Miller executive produces alongside Warren Littlefield of The Littlefield Company and Steve Stark of Toluca Pictures. MGM Television is producing the series.
In the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, June returns to the fight against Gilead, with Luke and Moira joining the resistance. The new season will see Serena attempt to reform Gilead, while Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia reflect on the consequences of their actions. Nick will also face difficult challenges to his character.
Halliday recently completed filming for the role of a character in James McAvoy’s California Schemin’. She won a Scottish BAFTA Award for Best Lead Actress for her role as Lois in the indie film Blue Jean and was also nominated at the British Independent Film Awards in 2022.
Halliday is represented by Curtis Brown Group and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light LLP.
