Chappell Roan has officially revealed that her highly anticipated country single, “The Giver,” will be released on March 13 at 8 p.m. ET. After weeks of teasing the song through creative billboard marketing across the country, Roan confirmed the release date on social media.
In her post, the singer shared that she co-wrote the song with producer Dan Nigro, a frequent collaborator. Roan explained that this is her first venture into the country genre, a style she holds dear. “I grew up listening to country music every morning and afternoon on my school bus, and it was always around me—at bonfires, grocery stores, and karaoke bars,” she wrote.
Roan also addressed the question many fans have been asking: whether she is working on a full country album. Her response was playful: “Right now, I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun.
‘The Giver’ is my take on country, but I’m not here to take over the genre—just here to add my little twist, a bit of fun, and maybe even a gay yodel.”
Roan first performed “The Giver” on Saturday Night Live in November 2024, giving fans an early preview of the track. Since then, she has kept the excitement alive, posting billboards with a hotline number that played snippets of the song.
This marks Roan’s first single release since “Good Luck, Babe!” came out in April 2024, following the success of her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess in 2023. The album produced several hits, and “Good Luck, Babe!” earned Roan multiple Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist, a category she went on to win.
