BMI has announced that Benson Boone will be honored with the BMI Champion Award at the 2025 BMI Pop Awards on May 13, held at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, California.
The performing rights organization is recognizing Boone for his impact on the music industry, calling him “one of today’s most exciting hitmakers,” according to Barbara Cane, Vice President of BMI Worldwide Creative.
“Benson Boone has reshaped the global soundscape with his passion for music and performance,” Cane said. “His honest storytelling, fueled by authenticity, continues to inspire. We’re thrilled to celebrate his achievements as part of the BMI family.”
The BMI Pop Awards will also highlight other top achievements in the pop music industry, including the Pop Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year, and the 50 most-performed pop songs in the U.S. from the past year. The private ceremony will be hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill, along with VP of Creative, NY Samantha Cox, VP of Creative, LA Tracie Verlinde, and Barbara Cane.
Boone, who earned a 2025 Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and was named Newcomer of the Year by Variety Hitmakers in 2024, continues to rise in the industry. This year, he released his latest single “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else,” and will make his Coachella debut. His highly anticipated album is set to drop this summer.
In receiving the BMI Champion Award, Boone joins a prestigious list of past honorees, including Peso Pluma, SZA, Khalid, Mark Ronson, and Keith Urban, all recognized for their efforts to support the next generation of songwriters and music creators.
