Weezer’s scheduled performance at Coachella this weekend will proceed, despite a disturbing incident involving the wife of bassist Scott Shriner. Jillian Shriner was shot by the LAPD and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder during a search for a hit-and-run suspect on Tuesday.
Sources told Variety that the band intends to perform “as of now,” though the situation remains ongoing. Jillian Shriner’s injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, and she was later released from custody after posting a $1 million bond. TMZ first reported the news.
The incident occurred in Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock neighborhood while police were searching for a hit-and-run suspect. Officers reportedly saw Jillian Shriner outside her home holding a pistol. Despite repeated orders to drop the weapon, she allegedly pointed it at the officers. The LAPD then opened fire, injuring her in the shoulder. No officers or civilians were harmed.
After the shooting, Shriner reportedly ran inside her home, later emerging with her babysitter. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment and subsequently released on bond.
