Fyre Festival 2, set to take place in Mexico from May 30 to June 2, has been postponed, just two months before its planned launch. Organizers informed ticketholders that the event has been delayed, and a new date will be announced later. Refunds have already been issued, and customers will have the option to repurchase tickets once the new date is set.
Representatives for the festival have not responded to requests for comment.
The sequel to the infamous 2017 Fyre Festival, which failed spectacularly, was created by Billy McFarland, who spent nearly four years in prison for defrauding investors out of $27.4 million. Fyre Festival 2 faced early setbacks, including the Isla Mujeres government’s statement in February that no permits had been approved for the event.
Tickets for Fyre Festival 2 were priced starting at $1,400 for general admission, with higher-priced options offering VIP access for $5,000 and artist access for $25,000. The most expensive package, a “Prometheus God of Fyre” option for $1.1 million, promised luxury amenities for eight people, including a private yacht and 24/7 chauffeur service. The festival website claims this premium package has already sold out.
