In a recent installment of “Pod Meets World,” Melissa Joan Hart and Will Friedle disclosed details of their past youthful connection and announced their joint involvement in an upcoming 1990s-themed movie project.
The podcast episode, which aired on August 20, featured a conversation between the former “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star and the cast member of “Boy Meets World,” accompanied by hosts Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong. Within this discussion, the duo delved into their shared history as child actors and their brief teenage romance.
Friedle recollected, “I was with you for, like, your 14th birthday or 15th, remember we went to someplace where it had those big tanks you could drive or shoot the tennis balls at?” As Hart chuckled, Friedle continued, “We went out for that, and we were, like, making googly eyes at each other. And by the end of the night, we were ‘dating.'”
Injecting humor, Hart playfully speculated that they perhaps exchanged “a few times on a landline,” an assertion Friedle confirmed. The reminiscence prompted Friedle to label their connection as a “whirlwind romance,” with both acknowledging that they couldn’t recall whether they had even shared a kiss.
Turning to their collaborative endeavors, Friedle and Hart disclosed their participation in an upcoming project.
The film, conceptualized by Friedle prior to the pandemic, features Hart and Friedle as quintessential ’90s stars. Friedle elaborated on the film’s premise, explaining that the plot centers on a movie he and Hart had made together in the 1990s, which had remained unfinished due to a series of comical circumstances.
The fictitious film’s director endeavors to reunite the cast to complete their ’90s movie, despite the passage of time and the fact that they are now approaching 50 years of age.
As the conversation progressed, the actors revealed that they would be obligated to participate in the film, along with “some of your exes and some of your friends,” as shared by Hart and Friedle. However, the realization of this project is expected to be delayed due to the ongoing writers’ strikes and other industry challenges in Hollywood.
Notwithstanding the timeline, Hart offered a glimpse into her excitement, describing the film as “super fun.” She expressed her enthusiasm upon reading the script, affirming her dedication to being part of the project alongside Friedle. “I was like, we have to do this! I have to be in this with you,” Hart enthused.
