At the 12th edition of the Platino Awards held in Madrid, Brazil’s political drama I’m Still Here emerged as the evening’s most celebrated film. Directed by Walter Salles, the film clinched top honors, including Best Ibero-American Fiction Film, Best Director for Salles, and Best Actress for Fernanda Torres, who portrayed Eunice Paiva. This recognition follows the film’s historic win at the 2025 Academy Awards, where it became the first Brazilian film to secure the Best International Feature Film Oscar.
In television, Colombia’s One Hundred Years of Solitude, a Netflix production, garnered accolades as Best Miniseries or Teleseries. Claudio Cataño received the Best Actor award for his role as José Arcadio Buendía, while Jairo Camargo was honored as Best Supporting Actor.
Spain led the country tally with 11 awards, including Best Screenplay for The Infiltrator, Best Actor for Eduard Fernández in Marco, and Best Original Music for Alberto Iglesias for The Room Next Door. Pedro Almodóvar also received recognition for his work on The Room Next Door. The animated film Black Butterflies marked a milestone by winning Best Animated Feature.
Eva Longoria was honored with the Platino Honorary Award for her contributions to the visibility of the Latin community.
The ceremony, presented by Aislinn Derbez and Asier Etxeandía, featured musical performances and celebrated the rich diversity of Ibero-American audiovisual productions.
