Wednesday night TV was once again filled with competitive programming, offering viewers a variety of shows to engage with.
On “America’s Got Talent,” the competition is well underway as they progress through the qualifier elimination rounds. In the latest episode, nine acts were eliminated based on viewer voting. Among those bidding farewell were comedian Barry Brewer Jr., sword swallower Herwan Legaillard, tap dancer Justin Jackson, brass band MOS, dancers Phil Wright & the Parent Jam, violinist Philip Bowen, singer Summer Rios, magician Trigg Watson, and acrobats Warrior Squad. Mzansi Youth Choir and Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act, singer Putri Ariani, advanced to the finals, with Cowell praising their performances.
Meanwhile, on “Superfan,” contestants competed to prove their status as the ultimate aficionado of the week’s guest celebrity, which was Cuban-American rapper Pitbull in this episode. The competition featured knowledge-based questions, charades-style quizzes, rapid-fire name-that-tune contests, and even lip-synching battles. Jessica Zappia of Riverside, Calif., emerged as the top superfan, winning VIP tickets and backstage passes to a Pitbull concert. Her ecstatic reaction showcased her passion for the artist.
Lastly, in the world of “MasterChef: United Tastes of America,” contestants faced challenges involving overcooked grilled banana-leaf-wrapped red snapper and undercooked salmon with raspberry-pear sauce. The outdoor BBQ battle required participants to elevate a classic summer BBQ dish, but Hawaiian donut queen MD’s Filipino-inspired seafood dish fell short, as she steamed the fish instead of grilling it. The judges criticized her complex preparation, and MD was eliminated.
In the subsequent double elimination challenge known as “the Wall,” contestants Brynn and Kolby failed to impress with their crispy skin salmon dish. Judge Gordon Ramsey described the sauces as “bizarre,” while Joe Bastianich noted that the sauces resembled pureed baby food. Kolby’s undercooked salmon also drew criticism. Despite Brynn’s prior immunity win, both were eliminated from the competition.
These Wednesday night shows continue to deliver thrilling moments of competition and entertainment for viewers.
