Heidi Klum, renowned for her epic Halloween costumes, has revealed the challenges she’s faced in creating her latest Halloween ensemble.
Speaking during a live taping of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday, the supermodel, aged 50, shared her struggles with the design process of her upcoming Halloween costume.
“I have had a really hard time. Things were going wrong, things were not working out,” she explained, even humorously mentioning her fear of experiencing her own “Emperor Has No Clothes” moment.
The complications with her costume even led her to contemplate skipping her annual Halloween bash altogether. Klum said, “I was like, maybe I just don’t come at all, and you pretend I’m there because I was already like, oh my God, this is not working out. I have no plan B, so I can’t come. I have to call in sick that day.”
She continued, “Oh man, no, it’s been like that. It’s been going good, then it’s going terrible. And then I’m like, okay, I see a glimpse of hope this might work. Then it’s not working again. So it’s been a rough patch.”
However, the good news is that Klum’s Halloween plans are now back on track, and she’s feeling confident that her costume will come together. “Now I’m positive again. It’s going to work,” she assured.
In a surprising turn of events, Klum also revealed that her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, will be joining in the Halloween fun this year. She shared, “Yes, he’s going to dress up now,” and added, “It is a little bit mandatory in my family.”
Klum praised Kaulitz, aged 34, for being a good sport and supporting her elaborate Halloween costume endeavors. “My husband is very good, I have to say. Just being there with me, for me, with all of the shenanigans, because I take it up a notch on Halloween,” she remarked.
Heidi Klum has a history of outdoing herself with each Halloween costume, and her creativity is eagerly anticipated every year. In the past, she’s dressed as an alien zombie creature, Princess Fiona from Shrek, Jessica Rabbit, a butterfly, and a werewolf. Even during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 when she had to cancel her annual Halloween party, Klum still embraced the Halloween spirit. In 2021, she starred in a short horror film as a stylish zombie mom who returns from the dead.
Klum’s dedication to Halloween is evident as she begins brainstorming her next costume almost immediately after each year’s festivities come to a close. As she put it, “Tomorrow,” referring to November 1, “When I wake up tomorrow, I start thinking of the next [costume].”
