Billy Miller, a three-time Daytime Emmy award recipient renowned for his roles in “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital,” tragically passed away on Friday, September 15, in Austin, Texas. He would have celebrated his 44th birthday today.
Soap opera journalist Michael Fairman has confirmed Miller’s passing. The exact cause of death remains undisclosed; however, his management released a statement indicating that he struggled with manic depression.
Born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, Miller embarked on his career as a model under Wilhelmina before transitioning into acting. He made his debut on the soap opera “All My Children,” where he portrayed the character Richie Novak. In 2008, he joined the cast of “The Young and the Restless” as the fourth actor to take on the role of Billy Abbott.
Although he left “The Young and the Restless” in 2014, Miller’s talent and dedication earned him three Daytime Emmy Awards: two for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and one for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
In 2014, Miller became part of the ensemble cast of “General Hospital,” portraying the characters Jason Morgan and Drew Cain until 2019.
His impressive acting credits extended beyond the soap opera world, with appearances in notable shows like “Suits,” Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” and Apple TV+’s “Truth Be Told.”
Billy Miller is survived by his parents, Bill and Sue Miller, his sister Kelly Miller, and his long-time partner, Kelly Monaco.
While there have been no public announcements regarding memorial plans, the management’s statement encourages donations to be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in his memory.
