Angelina Jolie reveals why she doesn’t act much anymore. Best known for starring in such films as Girl, Interrupted, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mr & Mrs Smith and Maleficent, Jolie has been a staple of big Hollywood films for more than two decades. Most recently, the star appeared in Those Who Wish Me Dead and Eternals in 2021, but her presence in films has been noticeably reduced in recent years.
While Jolie may be devoting less time to acting, the actress still has a few projects on the horizon. The actress is set to reprise her role as Tigress for the fourth time in Kung Fu Panda 4, a role she first played in the original 2008 film. According to the actress’ IMDb, she will also reprise her role as Maleficent for a third film in the Disney franchise, but this project has yet to be officially confirmed.
Jolie is also set to star in Every Note Played, a drama about an ALS-stricken piano teacher whose estranged wife becomes his caregiver. The actress is also attached to a film called Maria, in which she would play the real-life opera singer Maria Callas during her final days in 1970s Paris. However, apart from Kung Fu Panda 4, none of these films are actually dated or have started production, so it’s not clear when they might actually be released.
Jolie may not be acting as much anymore, but some recent efforts suggest she’s still more than capable of carrying an action film. Those Who Wish Me Dead, for example, a mid-budget Taylor Sheridan thriller, sees the actress return to her action hero roots as a survival expert caught up in a criminal conspiracy. Jolie isn’t quite done with the genre yet, as it was reported last month that she is set to star in the action thriller Maude vs Maude opposite Halle Berry.
