The travels of Leif, Harald and Freydis will come to an end with Season 3 on Netflix, Variety has confirmed.
“I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald and Freydis. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and we have done just that,” co-creator and executive producer Jeb Stuart said in a statement. “I hope that when audiences see the new season, they’ll be thrilled by the new heights we’ve taken these heroes to. When we started this project 5 years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to create a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying.
Stuart continued: “Of course, with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense story-wise for our Leif, Freydis and Harald’s journeys to end with our third season. And we cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of the story.
A spin-off of the History Channel’s Vikings series, Valhalla followed the legendary stories of explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and Norse prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
Joining Stuart as executive producers were Morgan O’Sullivan, original “Vikings” series creator Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and Paul Buccieri. “Valhalla” is produced by MGM Television.
Season 3 of “Valhalla” will debut on Netflix in 2024.
