Morgan Wallen has the No. 1 album in the United States for the 16th consecutive week this year. Wallen reaches the mark after his 36-song juggernaut spent 12 consecutive weeks at the top of the list following its debut in March, and after spending a total of 31 weeks in the top four of Billboard’s all-encompassing 200 albums chart.
Like its predecessor, Wallen’s One Thing at a Time continues to break records – particularly in its genre, where the country album holds the title for the most weeks at No. 1 in more than 30 years, since Billy Ray Cyrus’ 1992 debut Some Gave All, which peaked at 17 weeks.
In its latest tracking week, One Thing sold the equivalent of 74,500 albums and had 98 million streams, according to data provided by Luminate. This is expected to be a short-lived revival, with Drake’s feature-packed album ‘For All the Dogs’ expected to hit the top of the charts early next week.
Wallen replaces Rod Wave’s ‘Nostalgia’, which spent the last two chart rotations at number 1, and now sits at number 2. As was the case last week, the total number of units for the No.1 album on this week’s chart is significantly lower than in previous months.
The only new release on this week’s chart comes from Ed Sheeran, whose Autumn Variations is the week’s best-selling album at number 4, with 46,500 album sales and 62,000 total equivalent album units. The album was announced in early September and was promoted alongside a series of “Living Room Sessions”, which saw the singer perform intimate renditions of songs from the set in fans’ living rooms. The album also marks Sheeran’s seventh No. 1 album in his native UK.
Olivia Rodrigo’s chart-topping ‘Guts’ is at number 3; Zach Bryan’s self-titled album holds on at number 5; SZA’s ‘SOS’ is also stagnant at number 6. Elsewhere, Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ is at number 7, Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’ moves up from number 10 to number 8 and Peso Pluma’s ‘Génesis’ is at number 10.
Doja Cat’s ‘Scarlet’ slips from its previous entry at number 4 to number 9 in its second week. Meanwhile, one of the LP’s lead singles, the Dione Warwick-sampling ‘Paint the Town Red’, spends a third week at the top of the Hot 100.
New to the Hot 100 this week is Jung Kook and Jack Harlow’s ‘3D’, which enters the Hot 100 at number 5 with 13.6 million streams. The song was released with “Alternate”, clean, instrumental, speeded up and slowed down versions, as well as a remix by A.G. Cook.
The rest of the top 10 singles are repeats from previous weeks, including SZA’s ‘Snooze’ at number 2 with nearly 76 million radio impressions and 16.5 million streams, Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ back at number 3, Luke Combs’ ‘Fast Car’ at number 4 and Bryan’s ‘I Remember Everything’ featuring Kacey Musgraves at number 6.
Gunna’s ‘Fukumean’ remains at number 8, Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ is at number 9 and finally Rema and Selena Gomez’s ‘Calm Down’ is at number 10.
