Kali Uchis will kick off 2024 with the release of her fourth album, a collection of Spanish-language music called ‘Orquídeas’. Arriving on 12 January, the set will include the previously released ‘Muñekita’, featuring Dominican dembow singer El Alfa and JT of City Girls.
The Colombian-American artist shared the concept art for the record (see below) via Instagram on Wednesday morning, and in a press release she elaborated on the meaning of the title: “The orchid is the national flower of Colombia, and we have more species of orchids than anywhere else in the world,” Uchis said. “I have always felt very fascinated and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystical, striking, graceful and sensual allure of the orchid.

The news comes amid a busy year for Uchis, who has just completed her ‘Red Moon In Venus’ tour in support of her R&B-leaning LP of the same name, which was released earlier this year. The trek included stops at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom and several arenas. Uchis also performed at Coachella this year with surprise guests Tyler, The Creator, Omar Apollo and her boyfriend Don Toliver.
