Busta Rhymes has announced an all-star line-up of executive producers, including Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Busta himself, for his forthcoming album ‘Blockbusta’, due out on 24 November.
The rapper revealed that his 10th studio album will be released through his imprint The Conglomerate Entertainment, which is distributed by Epic/Sony. Rhymes posted a video of himself alongside his executive producer coterie, in which they each express their gratitude for working together.
“I’m so grateful that you chose me to be a part of your legacy,” Timbaland said. Pharrell added: “You really feel enlightened. That illumination is good because I think people are going to be able to get that and feel that.” In the clip, Beatz refers to Williams as “the pharaoh”, Timbaland as “the king” and himself as “the student”.
Although he didn’t reveal the album’s feature list, Rhymes has already released a number of collaborations this year, including ‘Beach Ball’ with Bia, ‘Murda’ with Bilal and ‘Luxury Life’ with Coi Leray, the latter of which he co-produced with Beatz. “Beach Ball” will be included on “Blockbusta”.
Rhymes last released an album in 2020 with ‘Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God’, a long-awaited project that featured guest appearances from Mariah Carey, Q-Tip and Kendrick Lamar. Prior to that, he took an extended hiatus from full solo releases, dropping Year of the Dragon as a free release on Google Play in 2012.
Rhymes is currently on an overseas tour supporting 50 Cent as part of the ‘Final Lap Tour’. Earlier this year, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards in recognition of his decades-long career and impact on the music industry.
