“Dance the Night Away from the Barbie movie soundtrack on vinyl.
Online vinyl record company Vinyl Me, Please (VMP) has announced two exclusive vinyl pressings of the Barbie movie soundtrack. “Barbie The Album-VMP Designer Edition” and “Barbie The Album-VMP Kendom Edition” are now available for pre-order for $160.
The “Barbie The Album-VMP Designer Edition” includes the album in a sunsational pink colour in a glittering “designer handbag”. Listeners can use this “designer handbag” as an actual purse, as it features a magnetic closure, side panels and a detachable strap.
The package also includes a “signed” photo of Ken playing Ryan Gosling’s rendition of “I’m Just Ken”; a slipmat to play the record; a picture disc in the shape of Stereotypical Barbie’s driving licence playing Charli XCX’s “Speed Drive; “A copy of the all-pink “Barbie News” with the lyrics and production information for the album; a “forgotten receipt” from the Barbie Land boombox with the track list and song details; and a “Barbie” credit card, which does not work in real stores, with a mysterious QR code on the back.
The “Kendom” edition contains the same items, but not without adding a little “Kenergy” of its own. The wallet in this edition is black, and Ken has signed the contents of the box, as well as providing some of his own artwork on the slipmat.
Cameron Schafer, CEO of VMP, described the packs as an “immersive collection”.
“At the end of the day, all we really want to do is bring people closer together and cultivate a deeper relationship with music, and we’re excited to share that with the world through our fun take on this phenomenal soundtrack,” Schafer said.
“Barbie The Album-VMP Designer Edition” and “Barbie The Album-VMP Kendom Edition” can be pre-ordered online at vinylmeplease.com and barbiethealbum.com ($160 for non-members or $140 for members) and will ship in March 2024.
