Pete Davidson, known for his role on “Saturday Night Live” and starring in Peacock’s “Bupkis,” is gearing up for his second Netflix hour-long special titled “Turbo Fonzarelli,” slated to debut on January 9, 2024, on the streaming platform.
This marks Davidson’s return to Netflix for another solo stand-up performance following his initial special, “Alive From New York,” which premiered back in 2020. Additionally, Davidson spearheaded Netflix’s “Pete Davidson: The Best Friends,” featuring a lineup of comedy and music partners including Neko White, Dave Sirus, Jordan Rock, Carly Aquilino, Joey Gay, Giulio Gallarotti, Big Wet, and Machine Gun Kelly.
Directed by Jason Orley, “Turbo Fonzarelli” features Davidson as an executive producer alongside Alex Panagos for King For A Night, while Ally Engelberg & Marc Lieberman serve as executive producers for Above Average, the production company behind the special.
Netflix describes the forthcoming special as a reflection on growing up and navigating life’s complexities upon reaching 30, delving into topics of love, life, and embracing an unconventional lifestyle in the wilderness.
In addition to his upcoming stand-up special, Davidson is actively engaged in the Peacock series “Bupkis,” where he portrays a fictionalized version of himself. The show has been renewed for a second season. Previously part of the “Saturday Night Live” cast from 2014 to 2022, Davidson ventured into film with notable credits including “The King of Staten Island,” “The Suicide Squad,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” “Dumb Money,” and the forthcoming “Good Burger 2.”
Recent projects for Davidson include guest-hosting “Saturday Night Live” and his lead role in the upcoming horror film “The Home.” Lionsgate secured U.S. rights to “The Home,” directed by James DeMonaco (“The Purge”). The film revolves around Max, portrayed by Davidson, a former foster child who takes on a job at a retirement home, uncovering ominous truths held by its residents and caregivers.
