Josh Hutcherson, known for his role in the 2023 horror video game adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” has hinted at the progress of its highly anticipated sequel. Amid promoting his latest action movie, “The Beekeeper,” Hutcherson provided insight into the development of the next installment of the spine-chilling franchise.
Speaking with Variety, Hutcherson revealed the positive trajectory of the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” sequel. “I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” he shared. Expressing admiration for the passionate fanbase, he added, “Obviously, the fans are amazing and die-hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal.”
Reflecting on the unexpected success of the first movie, Hutcherson acknowledged, “We hoped it would connect with audiences. But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set.” Praising director Emma Tammi, he emphasized the enjoyment of immersing himself in the film’s intriguing universe, expressing his anticipation for the upcoming project.
The actor also shared a light-hearted exchange with his “Hunger Games” co-star Jennifer Lawrence, where they celebrated their respective successes. “Jen texted me when ‘Freddy’s’ came out,” Hutcherson recounted. “She was like, ‘My movie’s #1 on Netflix, and yours is #1 at the box office! Let’s go!’ I was like, ‘I love you!'”
