Renowned Italian actress and model Sveva Alviti, celebrated for her portrayal of the iconic Egyptian-Italian singer in the 2017 biopic “Dalida,” and U.S. actor Newton Mayenge, recognized for his role as NBA legend Jim Chones in the HBO series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” are set to star in the romantic drama “The Other Side of Fame.” The film, directed by Erik Bernard (“Free Dead or Alive”), is poised to unfold against the backdrop of Cannes, promising a captivating narrative of love and the allure of stardom.
In “The Other Side of Fame,” Alviti assumes the role of a young woman entangled in a romantic liaison with an enigmatic American, portrayed by Mayenge. The storyline delves into the profound choice she faces between the seduction of fame and the promise of genuine love, a thematic dichotomy that forms the crux of the narrative.
Joining Mayenge in the cast is Alejandro De Hoyos, known for his recent appearances in the action comedy “The Man From Toronto” alongside Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. De Hoyos also featured in Bernard’s indie thriller “Free Dead or Alive.”
Bernard, who not only directs but also penned the script for “The Other Side of Fame,” revealed that the inspiration for the film emerged from his experience at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. Cannes and the surrounding areas are expected to play integral roles in the film, adding a distinctive charm to the narrative. Filming is scheduled to take place in Cannes during the upcoming winter season.
