Billy Bush, known for his role as host on “Extra,” faced elimination on the latest episode of “The Masked Singer.” The popular entertainment program, featuring masked celebrities showcasing their singing talents, revealed Bush as the next celebrity to be unmasked during the “TV Theme Night” episode.
Reflecting on his experience, Bush humbly admitted, “I’m not a great singer. If you can’t make it with the lips, make it with the hips. If you’ve never done something that’s a little on the scary side — and this is scary — say yes!”
Despite the guesses from the panelists, including Robin Thicke’s suggestion of Anderson Cooper and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg’s pick of Seth Meyers, none correctly identified Bush as Sir Lion. Ken Jeong guessed Ryan Seacrest, while new panelist Rita Ora speculated it was Andy Cohen.
Following a tense showdown performance of “Who Are You” by the Who, Sir Lion, alongside Lizard, faced elimination as the lowest vote-getters. Sir Lion’s departure left Lizard, Poodle Moth, and Clock to advance to the next round.
Billy Bush, who has been hosting “Extra” since 2019 and previously anchored shows like “Access Hollywood” and the third hour of “Today,” joined the ranks of unmasked celebrities this season, including Joe Bastianich as Spaghetti & Meatballs, Savannah Chrisley as Afghan Hound, and Kevin Hart as Book.
The “TV Theme Night” episode also featured the panelists’ rendition of the “Gilligan’s Island” theme, setting the tone for the exciting themed episodes planned for Season 11. Host Nick Cannon returns alongside panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Robin Thicke, with Rita Ora filling in for Nicole Scherzinger.
Season 11 of “The Masked Singer” promises a variety of themed episodes, including tributes to “The Wizard of Oz” for its 85th anniversary, “Transformers” for the brand’s 40th anniversary, and music-themed nights like “Billy Joel Night” and “Queen Night.” Other themes include “Girl Groups,” “Soundtrack of My Life,” “TV Theme Night,” and “Shower Anthems.”
Featuring sixteen celebrity singers, including three “wildcards,” Season 11 showcases new costumes such as “Gumball,” “Lizard,” “Ugly Sweater,” “Goldfish,” “Starfish,” “Book,” “Gumball,” “Miss Cleocatra,” “Afghan Hound,” “Beets,” “Poodle Moth,” “Clock,” “Spaghetti & Meatballs,” and “Lizard.” The contestants boast impressive credentials, with a combined 22 Grammy nominations, 11 platinum albums, 33 Teen Choice nominations, 108 million records sold, 326 film appearances, and 1.7 billion Spotify streams.
