Celebrities like Sharon Osbourne and Amy Schumer have openly talked about using Ozempic for weight management. However, a health expert is cautioning against this practice.
Ozempic is a medication crucial for treating adults with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes. It has stirred controversy among Hollywood stars who use it primarily for weight loss purposes.
In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, Dr. Heather Hinshelwood initially praised Ozempic as a “life saver” when used correctly.
“For my patients dealing with complex health issues such as heart disease, perimenopause, diabetes with kidney problems, and even those showing early signs of dementia, Ozempic and its generic version, semaglutide, can be life-saving,” she stated.
However, Dr. Heather expressed concern, noting, “Although I don’t treat patients in the entertainment industry, it appears that celebrities using this medication are doing so to maintain an unhealthy weight.”
“This is not the intended use of the drug. Our diet provides essential nutrients that are crucial for our bodies to function optimally. Inadequate nutrition can lead to deficiencies in vitamins, proteins, fats, and glucose, causing health problems that are as serious as severe obesity,” she emphasized.
