Victoria Beckham says her 50th birthday photos prove she’s not a “miserable cow.” The former Spice Girls singer celebrated her milestone birthday at the end of April with a party in Mayfair, and pictures of her smiling were shared online by friends and photographers. She was even seen being piggybacked by her husband, David Beckham.
In an interview with Grazia, Victoria explained that the pictures show her true personality. “They showed the world who I really was. That is the real me,” she said. “All that hard work of looking like a miserable cow for all those years is wasted! All my friends successfully ruined that. I also think that when you get older, you care less about what others think.”
Victoria has often been teased for rarely smiling in photos. The Spice Girls reunited for her birthday celebration, and guests included Tom Cruise, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Eva Longoria, Charlotte Tilbury, and Gordon Ramsay.
Victoria, a mother of four, told Grazia that she enjoys spending time with women and loves sharing fashion tips through her business. She insisted she’s not the “ice queen” people think she is and that humor is central to her life. “I’m a real girl’s girl and I think that comes across,” she said. “If I have a great tip or a new pair of trainers, I want to tell everyone. For so long, people thought I was this steely-faced ice queen because of paparazzi pictures and media stories.
Through social media, people now see that’s not me. I like to laugh at myself. Humor is key.”
Victoria also admitted that her lack of body confidence previously made her avoid beach outings with her children. “I never want to look like I’m complaining, but there were times I didn’t feel confident enough to sit on a beach and watch my children play,” she said. However, she now feels “more accepting” of her looks and isn’t bothered by negative comments.
Despite her reputation for strict dieting and weight loss, Victoria said she’s still disciplined about her diet and works out regularly but believes “life’s too short” for calorie counting. She recalled being a “nightmare” with food at restaurants, preferring simple dishes without oils, butters, or sauces. However, she does enjoy treating herself to whole grain toast with salt.
Victoria Beckham, who heads her own high fashion brand, has evolved in her approach to body image and diet, embracing a more relaxed and confident outlook.
