Michael Stuhlbarg Set to Star Alongside Julia Roberts in Luca Guadagnino’s Upcoming Thriller ‘After The Hunt’.
Michael Stuhlbarg, an Oscar-nominated actor known for his diverse roles in film and television, is confirmed to join the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ new movie, ‘After The Hunt’. This thriller, which will hit theaters next year, stars Julia Roberts and features Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield. The film is directed by Luca Guadagnino, based on a screenplay by Nora Garrett, with Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum of Imagine Entertainment producing in collaboration with Guadagnino under his Frenesy banner. Nora Garrett and Imagine’s Karen Lunder will also serve as executive producers. Filming is scheduled to start this summer.
The plot of ‘After The Hunt’ centers on a college professor who faces personal and professional dilemmas after a leading student accuses a colleague of misconduct, bringing to the fore dark secrets from her own past. The script, a sought-after piece since its acquisition by Imagine Entertainment at the beginning of the year, has attracted significant interest from top directors and actors, leading to rapid production commitments from Amazon once Guadagnino and Roberts were onboard.
Michael Stuhlbarg’s notable film work includes his role in the Coen Brothers’ ‘A Serious Man’, which garnered him a Golden Globe nomination. His filmography also includes standout performances in ‘Call Me By Your Name’ directed by Guadagnino, ‘The Shape of Water’ by Guillermo Del Toro, and ‘Miss Sloane’ with Jessica Chastain. His work extends to Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’, among others. Stuhlbarg’s television credits include ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘Transparent’, and ‘Fargo’, with Emmy nominations for his roles in ‘The Looming Tower’ and ‘Dopesick’. His acclaimed stage work includes Tony-nominated performances in ‘The Pillowman’ and ‘Patriots’, the latter currently running on Broadway. Stuhlbarg is represented by CAA and Viking Entertainment.
