The strained relationship between Meghan Markle and her half-sister, Samantha Markle, continues to make headlines. Samantha has publicly accused Meghan of deceiving her daughter regarding her absence from the royal wedding, painting a negative picture of Meghan’s actions.
In a recent interview with Channel Seven’s Sunrise, Samantha reiterated her claims that Meghan had misled the public about their relationship and upbringing. She expressed surprise at hearing a narrative that implied her daughter, Ashley, was not invited to the wedding because of Samantha. This narrative, according to Samantha, was allegedly spun by Meghan herself.
The royal wedding in May 2018 saw Meghan marrying Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, as the sole family member present. Samantha revealed in 2023 that the Markle family was surprised at not receiving invitations. Initially, their father, Thomas, was to walk Meghan down the aisle, but he suffered a heart attack shortly before the event.
Samantha, known for her work as a writer and screenwriter, has been critical of Meghan since her relationship with Prince Harry began. The conflict escalated when Samantha took legal action against Meghan over defamatory statements made in interviews with Oprah Winfrey and on Netflix. Meghan’s portrayal of herself as an only child and her desire for a sibling were challenged by Samantha, who argued that Meghan’s narrative was fabricated to prevent interference with her perceived fairy tale life story.
In her latest accusation, Samantha alleges that Meghan misled her daughter into believing that Samantha’s actions were the reason for their absence from the wedding. This, Samantha claims, created a rift between Ashley and herself, unfairly placing blame on Samantha.
In response to these allegations, Ashley expressed her emotional distress in a documentary, lamenting the impact on her relationship with Meghan. She feels that her chance to be part of something significant was unjustly taken away, causing significant emotional turmoil.
