A close friend of Wendy Williams has expressed deep concerns about the television personality’s court-appointed guardianship, likening it to Britney Spears’ conservatorship but highlighting even more troubling aspects. In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, Regina Schell, a lifelong friend of Wendy’s, shared her worries regarding the guardianship that has been in place since 2022.
Regina emphasized that Wendy’s appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, was previously unknown to Wendy before the court’s decision. “This is similar to Britney Spears’ situation, but arguably worse since it involves someone outside of Wendy’s family having control,” Regina explained. She highlighted the contrast with Britney Spears, where family members were involved in the conservatorship.
The sudden shift of control over Wendy’s life raised questions for Regina. She recounted Wendy’s previous activities, such as real estate discussions and financial consultations, which indicated her ability to manage her affairs independently. Regina expressed confusion over how Wendy went from being largely independent to now being deemed incapacitated without direct involvement from her family.
Regina stressed the importance of Wendy being surrounded by loved ones rather than being isolated. She shared her past experiences of living with Wendy and assisting with her needs alongside Wendy’s sister and the guardian. However, Regina noted a breakdown in communication with Sabrina Morrissey, leading to disruptions in Wendy’s essential services.
Regina’s concerns come in the wake of the recent Lifetime documentary “Where is Wendy Williams?”, which shed light on Wendy’s situation and drew parallels to Britney Spears’ case. The documentary highlighted the need for public awareness regarding the powers granted to court-appointed guardians.
Regina voiced her worries about Wendy’s prolonged silence, noting that Wendy’s livelihood revolves around communication and public presence. She questioned the lack of public updates or communication from Wendy and expressed frustration over not knowing Wendy’s current whereabouts.
Similarly, Wendy’s family has raised alarms about the guardianship, stating their inability to contact her directly due to the guardian’s control over communication and access. Wendy’s sister, Wanda, emphasized the family’s concern for Wendy’s well-being and the lack of transparency surrounding her situation.
As Wendy remains under the guardianship established by Wells Fargo and supervised by Sabrina Morrissey, concerns persist about the fairness and transparency of the process. Regina and Wendy’s family continue to advocate for more clarity and communication regarding Wendy’s condition and the decisions made under the guardianship.
