Simon Cowell recently made an exciting announcement on social media following rumors that Bruno Tonioli had been removed from the Britain’s Got Talent panel.
The 64-year-old music mogul took to Instagram to share that he has officially joined TikTok. In a video posted to his Stories, Simon told his two million followers, “Hello everyone. I am now officially on TikTok.”
He clarified, “But I’m not going to dance or sing.” This announcement came shortly after he addressed rumors about Bruno’s alleged departure from BGT after two years on the panel.
Speculation about Bruno’s exit began when it was revealed that auditions for the ITV talent show would start in October instead of January. This scheduling change conflicted with Bruno’s commitment to Dancing with the Stars in the US. A source told The Sun, “He’s committed to the US, but the new format for BGT is non-negotiable because the show will effectively be replacing Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.”
Rumors then suggested that Alan Carr might replace Bruno on the panel, joining Simon, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon for the show’s 18th series.
Simon addressed these rumors on the Heart Breakfast show with Jamie Theakston and fellow judge Amanda Holden. Jamie read a headline stating, “Britain’s Got Talent set to drop judge Bruno,” and asked Simon which part of it wasn’t true. Simon responded, “I don’t know where all this stuff comes from!” He emphasized that he would not replace Bruno unless Bruno’s schedule made it impossible for him to appear on the show.
Last week, Bruno spoke out for the first time since the rumors started. He shared an image on social media indicating that Simon is searching for his next boy band following the success of One Direction. Bruno posted a link for sign-ups, along with a poster that read, “Simon needs you! Are you the next global superstar and want to be in his new boy band? Aged around 16-18? Click below now to apply.”
