Megan Fox, known for her roles in two Transformers blockbusters, faced a pivotal moment in her career when she was let go from the franchise. In 2009, during an interview with Wonderland magazine, Fox made a comparison between director Michael Bay and historical figures like Napoleon and Hitler. This comment, likening Bay’s directorial style to that of Hitler, sparked controversy and led to her dismissal from the Transformers series.
Executive producer Steven Spielberg, not pleased with Fox’s remark, instructed Bay to remove her from the franchise. Bay later shared in an interview with GQ that Spielberg’s directive was straightforward: “Steven said, fire her right now.” Despite Bay’s acknowledgment that Fox’s comment wasn’t personally offensive, citing her tendency to provoke responses in unconventional ways, the decision to part ways was made.
Reflecting on the incident years later, Fox admitted that her refusal to apologize for the comment contributed to her exit from the Transformers movies. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she expressed regret for not seeing the bigger picture at the time, acknowledging her self-righteousness in handling the situation.
Despite this setback, Fox found opportunities elsewhere, including a role in the rebooted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, showing that setbacks in Hollywood can often lead to new beginnings.
