After the triumph of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” Will Smith is set to headline Sony’s “Resistor,” based on Daniel Suarez’s novel “Influx.”
Smith, known for “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” will lead the sci-fi thriller, according to reports from Deadline and Variety.
The movie, currently in development, focuses on physicist Jon Grady and his team’s invention to control gravity, leading to a challenging situation in a high-tech prison.
Despite previous controversies, including an incident at the 2022 Academy Awards, Smith’s recent success with “Bad Boys” has reignited interest in his projects. The franchise’s latest installment has surpassed $215 million globally, boosting Smith’s career.
“Resistor” is a promising venture, but it’s still in its early stages, and Smith may have other projects lined up before this one.
Smith’s track record in sci-fi includes hits like the “Men in Black” series, “Independence Day,” “I, Robot,” and “I Am Legend.”
