The remake of Resident Evil 2, which sold 10 million copies by 2022, has now reached a total of 13.9 million sales as of March 2024, according to an announcement by Capcom’s Dev 1 team on Twitter. This milestone makes it the highest-selling title in the Resident Evil franchise.
Originally released in 1998, Resident Evil 2 was available on platforms like PlayStation, Nintendo 64, GameCube, and Dreamcast. The remake, released in 2019, features full 3D environments, enhanced performance for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and an over-the-shoulder perspective instead of the fixed camera angles used in the original.
The Resident Evil 2 remake is available on multiple platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam.
In 2022, the team couldn’t celebrate their 10 million sales milestone due to being at home. Now, with nearly 14 million copies sold, their celebration is long overdue. Capcom has also seen success with other titles, such as Monster Hunter: World, which has sold over 20 million copies, not including its Iceborne expansion. Congratulations to Capcom on achieving this impressive milestone.
